Triple H, October 2011:

“When I grew up, I hated Hogan. I thought he was terrible and didn’t like to watch him. I was like Punk in a way. I liked the Steamboats and Flairs and the ones that could go. Would I be right in saying that Hogan was the wrong guy to go with, and they should’ve changed directions and gone with Steamboat because he was the better wrestler? Ludicrous.” - Triple H. NWA WORLD TITLE HISTORY
(Part 8 of the Counterfactual Title Histories. This is an attempt to construct a straight line which connects the full century of American wrestling. The NWA did not exist until 1929; there have occasionally been disputes as to the actual champion. We’ve tried to clean that up here to give a lineal title history.)

Dude. Counterfactual is right. You had a good list going there until after Flair's win at Starrcade 83, and then the wheels fly comletely off!

You fudged the numbers a bit. A lot, actually. The National Wrestling Alliance didn't come about till the early 40's. It was the National Wrestling ASSOCIATION that started in 1904. While the NWASSOC was absorbed into the NWALL when Lou Thesz unified the titles, it's not the same thing.
